We Northern Californians love love LOVE our redwood trees. Our family can pack up a picnic and be on the road towards our favorite grove faster than you can say S’Mores and Hot Dogs.
We also get a bit weird when taking visiting relatives to view these giant trees.
You can imagine how thrilled Mr. Hensongs was when he was presented a gift of a pile of redwood lumber. A friend of a friend has started a little sawmill and is spinning the proverbial straw into gold….redwood trees that have fallen in storms turned into usable lumber.
We’re calling the lumber “responsibly harvested” – how California can you get? It sounds better than “the tree that fell down because it wanted to and someone got permission to clear it off of private land”.
Today we’re unveiling the first project out of the workshop. A cookbook holder made from this beautiful gift from nature. Don’t you want one??
